Course ratings on GolfView combine review data over time. Here's what goes into a rating and how to read one.
Course ratings on GolfView are built from reviews left by golfers who've actually played the course. Early on, a newly listed course may show a provisional rating; once enough first-party reviews come in, the displayed rating and review count switch over to reflect real player feedback exclusively.
When you're comparing two courses, look past the headline number to the review count and the review text itself. A 4.5 rating from a handful of reviews carries a lot less signal than a 4.2 rating built from hundreds — and the written reviews often tell you more than the number does, from pace of play to how the greens were rolling that season.
